This Evacuation Alert System label has been designed to satisfy the requirements of the British Standards as described below:
BS 8629:2019 Clause 11.2 states…
In every flat, means should be provided to facilitate the installation of additional evacuation alert devices to provide a suitable evacuation alert signal for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing, with minimum interference with the integrity of the evacuation alert device circuit in the flat. Any interface installed for this purpose should be suitably labelled “EVACUATION ALERT SYSTEM”.
BS 8629:2019 Clause 14.2e)1) states…
Every isolator and protective device that can isolate the supply to the evacuation alert system, other than the main isolator for the building, in the case of a protective device that serves only the evacuation alert system but incorporates no switch should be labelled “EVACUATION ALERT SYSTEM”.
BS 8629:2019 Clause 15.2f) states…
All joints, other than those within system components, should be enclosed within junction boxes, labelled with the words “EVACUATION ALERT SYSTEM” to avoid confusion with other services.
