Job Description

Rely on Fire Check are recruiting for a Domestic Fire Systems Manager to work in the capacity of design, estimating and commissioning of Grade D mains powered fire detection and alarm systems in both new build residential and social housing sector areas.

Properties will include new build residential houses and flats, flats within sheltered housing schemes, houses of multiple occupation and supported living schemes.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Producing detailed system design(s) for Grade D fire detection & fire alarm systems.
  • Undertaking site-based surveys of existing systems and production of compliance reports and recommendations for improvement.
  • Producing associated documentation to support system design e.g., specification documentation, technical submissions, and drawings with the support of an AutoCAD Drawing & Document Technician.
  • Produce detailed priced quantification and quotations of system equipment and commissioning services.
  • Processing of client orders receipt, fulfilment, and sales invoicing.
  • Provide technical support to clients.
  • Attend and where required chair internal and external meetings.
  • Deliver presentations and training to external stakeholders.
  • Using the company internal ICT systems for task management and estimating.
  • Maintaining technical competency.
  • Maintaining 3rd party certification for BAFE (British Approvals for Fire Equipment) DS 301 Scheme for the design and commissioning of Grade D mains powered fire detection & fire alarm systems within dwellings.

Required Skills

  • JIB Graded Approved Electrician  
  • Qualified Supervisor experience.
  • Recognised industry training and experience.
  • Excellent technical ability.
  • Detailed understanding of BS 7671 including holding of current 18th Edition.
  • Detailed understanding of BS 5839-6 and associated industry codes of practice.  
  • Ability to source information from industry standards and codes of practice.
  • Competent with Microsoft Windows.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Attention to detail, well presented, personable and excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Good time management.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Satisfactory outcome of Disclosure & Barring Service check.

About You

The ideal candidate will have exceptional technical understanding of electrical installations within domestic premises with a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a qualified supervisor role for a NICEIC registered electrical contracting business.  

You will ideally have experience in estimating and project management on both new build residential electrical installations within dwellings and the rewiring of electrical installations within occupied residential dwellings.  

You will understand the importance of working to process and procedure and having excellent written English communication skills you will have an ability to correctly complete reports, checklists, and certificates of compliance.  

You will be prepared to undergo training to meet the ongoing requirements of this role. Full training will be provided for exceptional candidates who may require additional skills to perform this role.  

You'll be a problem solver who is able to work both in a team and independently whilst not being afraid to identify and communicate non-conformance and deal with matters of technical conflict.  

As an experienced electrical qualified supervisor, you will have exceptional analytical skills and an ability to identify and rectify problems before they occur.  

You will provide excellent customer service to exceed the expectations and requirements of both internal and external customers, establishing and maintaining effective relationships with customers.  

You must be prepared to travel and work away from home to meet the requirements of the business. You will be able to manage your time efficiently so that jobs are prioritised correctly and delivered on time.
