Chemring Countermeasures, part of the Chemring Group, designs and manufactures RF and IR countermeasures that are devised to protect air and naval platforms from missile threats.
The air & naval countermeasures facility is a multi-building site comprising of general use, welfare, storage, manufacturing and research & development and test facility buildings. This site incorporates numerous high risk manufacturing processes of a highly explosive nature.
As part of a broader fire safety improvement project, Rely on Fire Check were appointed to carry out surveys of each building to produce building layout drawings, subsequently enhanced to detailed as-fitted drawings for the electrotechnical fire safety systems, namely fire detection & fire alarm and emergency lighting systems.
These drawings were used to undertake the verification of the existing systems for compliance with the prescribed requirements of fire risk assessment for each individual building and British Standards and industry codes of practice. The output of our verification was detailed reports by means of annotation and digital images for the as-fitted drawings using our field based compliance auditing software. Observations and recommendations for any works required to bring each system into compliance with current requirements was provided and where needed, the design of replacement systems was undertaken.
