BAFE Scheme Support
Edmundson Electrical is the UK's largest Electrical Wholesaler, distributing an extensive range of top-branded products from the world's leading manufacturers.
Following a recommendation, Edmundson Electrical approached Rely on Fire Check to assist them with the development of one of their 'TECH' business units, namely FIRETECH.
The purpose of this business unit was to provide a fire detection & fire alarm system design service with the aim to supply electrical contractors with the system equipment needed for the installation.
Edmundson Electrical were insistent in obtaining the necessary certification to demonstrate competence for system design and as such, the need for BAFE SP203-1 scheme certification for the design module was identified.
With 40 profit centre locations identified as needing individual operational location audit and certification this was a significant piece of work for Rely on Fire Check.
Working in close collaboration with senior leadership team and profit centre manager for each location a strategy was developed incorporating the implementation of a documented management system including methods of design certification and specification, the delivery of a comprehensive training programme providing a knowledge transfer of the requirements of both the BAFE scheme, the operation of the management system and more importantly, the extensive level of technical training delivered to in excess of 80 delegates across the UK to enable them to complete system designs fully compliant with British Standards and industry codes of practice.
The appointment involved Rely on Fire Check working with key members of the Edmundson Electrical business in the securing of supply agreements for specialist electrotechnical fire safety system products.
The successful delivery of the services resulted in each and every operational location of FIRETECH being certificated for design by means of third-party certification audit for the BAFE SP203-1 scheme.
This project was delivered within a 6 month programme and Rely on Fire Check were retained to provide ongoing support services to each FIRETECH location so that BAFE certification was maintained.
